How to Ensure Quality in Underwear Manufacturing
YDL quality control process is from the first fabric roll to the final carton.
At the YDL Underwear factory, the quality control process is from the first fabric roll to the final carton. Pre-production material checks, Pattern & Cutting Inspection,Stitching & Sewing Quality Control,Printing, & Washing Inspection,in-line inspections, Finishing & Trimming Inspection, and Customer or Third-party Final Quality Inspection are built into every order. Our QC team works directly from your approved sample and spec sheet.
Step 1. Pre-Production Fabric & Material Inspection
Any fabric defects are fixed before cutting. This is the first gate in the YDL underwear factory's serious QC process:
This step consists of the following five points: Fabric defects, GSM & weight accuracy, Color consistency & dye fastness, Shrinkage testing, Fabric composition verification.
- Fabric defects: Our QA will inspect full rolls for holes, stains, streaks, and weaving irregularities upon fabric arrival.
- Colour consistency & dye fastness: Match against the approved swatch and run wash and rub fastness tests
- GSM & weight accuracy: Weigh samples against the order spec to assure drape, durability, and hand feel
- Shrinkage testing: Pre-wash a fabric sample and remeasure before cutting to account for any dimensional change
- Fabric composition verification: Confirm fibre content matches the spec sheet and what will appear on the care label
Step 2. Pattern, Measurements & Cutting Inspection
YDL underwear factory places great emphasis on dimensional control during this step, which is particularly important. One cutting error reproduces itself across every unit in the run.
- Pattern accuracy: Ensure all pattern pieces are correctly graded from the approved base size.
- Size grading consistency: Check measurements across all sizes against the approved spec sheet.
- Cutting precision: Cut pieces keep clean edges and be consistent between layers
- Fabric alignment & grain direction: Grain lines must run per spec.
Step 3. Stitching & Sewing Quality Control
From our factory view, stitching defects are what customers feel directly. Seams broken, threads hanging off the hem, holes from needle damage — these are what end up in one-star reviews. Production quality lives and dies at this stage:
- Stitch density: Count stitches per inch against spec approved by customer — too few weakens the seam, too many causes puckering
- Seam strength: Pull-test at stress points to confirm seams hold under normal wear
- Loose threads: Inspect stitch lines and hems for anything that should have been trimmed in finishing
- Needle damage: Check for holes or snags around stitch lines from incorrect needle gauge or machine speed
- Seam alignment: Seams should meet cleanly at leg holes, side seams, and crotch points

Step 4. Printing, & Washing Inspection
- YDL underwear factory quality control system checks following:
- Print placement & clarity: Measure position against spec and check for bleeding, fading, or misregistration
- Colour accuracy: Compare against the approved Pantone or physical standard under consistent lighting
- post-wash shrinkage & distortion: Measure key points after washing to confirm dimensions stay within tolerance
Step 5. In-Line Production Quality Checks
YDL underwear takes In-line production quality checks seriously and depends on the following:
- Random piece inspection: Pull units at set intervals throughout the run for detailed review
- Measurement tolerance checks: Measure key points against the approved tolerance range
- Workmanship review: Check seam finishing and top stitching on inspected units
- Defect tracking & correction: Log what is found and feed it back to the production line straight away
Step 5. Finishing & Trimming Inspection
- YDL underwear undergoes full finishing and trimming inspection.
- Ironing & presentation: Consistently pressed, no marks or heat distortion Label placement: Care and size labels are correctly positioned and firmly sewn Hangtags & branding accuracy: Hangtag content, barcode, and placement all per the packaging spec
Step 6. Customer or Third-party inspections Final Quality Inspection (Pre-Shipment)
YDL supports and works closely with the inspector to finish the final underwear inspection checklist:
- AQL standards: Apply AQL sampling to get a statistically valid pass or fail on the batch
- Size & color consistency: Cross-check size and measurements and color assortment in packed cartons against the purchase order.
- Visual defect inspection: One more check on packed underwear for anything missed earlier
- Packaging: Folding and presentation per the packaging spec.
- Carton labelling & quantity checks: Markings and unit counts must match the packing list.
